My Role in the Development of Artisan Hub in the 2nd project phase of the Ada project

In the 2nd project phase of the Ada Project named "wildfire", we were asked to do the following

  • Identify a problem in one of the following industries; Health tech, Edutech, Real estate tech, Lifestyle tech, Death tech, and Fintech.

  • Ideate a solution using brainstorming methods around the problem

  • Design a mobile application that can properly solve the problem.

Team Idealist which was my team was made up of 12 members from the various tracks in the Ada project. We found some problems we could profer solutions to in the lifestyle tech some of which include:

  • An app that reminds people to drink water

  • An app that reminds mothers when to go for immunization

  • For areas with scarcity of water like some parts in the east, an app that helps you connect with does that provide water services

  • An app that brings all the interstate transport together

  • An app that connects you to artisan services.

We decided to go with an app that connects artisans after carrying out a survey which infer that it is difficult getting the services of artisans like plumbers, carpenters, painters, etc. within a locality. So we built a mobile and web application where Nigerians can seek out the most available artisan in their locality and another metropolis within the country with particular reference to their need and the problem they are trying to solve.

My Contributions

Working with other data analysts, I carried out an initial online survey to identify the most sorted-after artisan and recorded the result in a dashboard. I also assisted in getting data from different artisans residing in various areas of Nigeria to upgrade the app and make relevant changes. Finally, I also assisted in user testing where we selected 3 users to use our product and give feedback.

Insights gained

During the project, I was able to practice the ideation process using brainstorming and also learned how to collaborate on click-up and Figma. I also learned a point or two about team management and critical thinking.

In conclusion, the project phase was educative and informative. Working with other team members from other track was motivational.
